Apple has introduced a new repair service that will let its users get their devices repaired at home. The cities where this service is available are Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Houston, Chicago, and Dallas. This is going to be helpful for customers who are not able to visit Apple stores to get the issues of their devices fixed. The service can be availed by simply visiting Apple’s support site which now has an onsite option while scheduling a repair. The onsite repair service will be provided through Apple Authorized Service Provider Go Tech Services. One can book the repair services only via Apple’s support site at the moment.

The onsite repair service could be chargeable and therefore customers might have to pay more than the standard repair cost. There is no additional information about the fee available on the website of Apple support. On selecting ‘book through this provider’, you will be redirected to the site of Go Tech Services, where the visit time can be scheduled. This site will give you options for selecting a date and a time for the visit. Go Tech Services seem to be operating exclusively through Apple. There is some ambiguity over the extent of the problems that be addressed if someone is opting for an onsite repair service. The support site only showed a repair option for the iPhone screen and not for other devices like iMacs. Also, there was no option for a battery replacement.

This is not the first time when Apple is offering onsite repairs. However, it was earlier available for its enterprise customers only and regular consumers had no such options. Enterprise customers mean organizations where Apple devices are used in large numbers. This service, with an additional fee and a limited number of repair options, is definitely not going to be everyone. But it is a very good option provided by Apple for its customers. The services are expected to be extended in some other cities of the United States.
