Facebook is the parent company of Instagram. The company has announced to roll out full-screen ads to businesses and advertisers. The ads will loop and up to 30 seconds in length. The ads will appear in between clips. The format will be vertical. The ads will be similar to those found in the Stories feature of Instagram. Reels allows Instagram users to create short funny videos and share them on the platform. It is touted to be the rival of China’s TikTok.
Instagram users will see ads within Reels globally from June 18. The company said that ads will appear in the most popular places on Reels. The places include user Feed, Tab, Stories, Explore, and more. Users can like and post comments on the ads. They can also save them just like other videos. The company will also provide exclusively shows reels. Users who tap into a reel from Stories, Feed, Tab, Explore will enter a viewer where they will get to see exclusively shows reels. Instagram said that Reels is a great way to discover new content. Therefore, it meets all the criteria to roll out ads on the platform. The platform expects brands to take advantage of Reels ads to show their products to users.
Instagram initially tested the full-screen ads in Reels in India and Australia. The company is now rolling out ads globally. Meanwhile, Facebook is testing a new ad format. It will be exclusively for the Stories feature on Facebook. It will be called sticker ads. The social media platform is bringing sticker ads for influencers. It will let creators monetize their Stories. The ads look like stickers. These stickers can be linked to products so that users can directly buy. Facebook has also started testing ads in Oculus virtual reality headsets.
