Google’s SOS Feature was quite useful, but the company ignored the same. The feature became useless in most of the countries as the data was not updated. After two years, Google has updated the SOS alerts feature in the Google Maps app and is based on real-time data. From now on, the  Google Maps app will start showing real-time information about the natural calamities, accidents, earthquakes, hurricanes, or any other SOS event, which is dangerous for the user. With the visual overlay on the affected area, the users will know about the safety warning from the Google Maps app.

There are different settings for different SOS issues. For example, the app will predict the path of the hurricane on the Map and also show you the card notification if you are in the affected area. For the flood warnings, it will show the notification if you are in the danger zone and might get affected. Also, the earthquakes will have a separate card notification with the information on the affected area and also the magnitude, epicenter, and other related info which might be useful for the users.

In the event of natural disasters or accidents and attacks, Google always shares the information for the affected people. With this SOS Alerts feature, the users will get accurate information about the calamity they are involved in. As soon as the user sees the SOS alert, Google will provide the shelter details, relevant news, emergency phone numbers, and other details to help the users immediately. The SOS alerts are being released on all of the available platforms globally. Only the navigation support is available on Android & iOS, and then the Hurricane prediction information is available in the countries like US, Mexico, Caribbean, Western Europe, Japan, Taiwan, China, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, and South Korea.
