Nearly three weeks after Apple rolled out iOS 13 to all its users, Instagram has updated the iPhone app by adding dark mode support in iOS 13. This new update will make tapping scrolling through Instagram feed much easier on the eyes. People who don’t like the eye-popping and bright colour palette of this photo-sharing app were eagerly waiting for this update. This will flawlessly blend with dark mode iOS 13. So there will be no flashing white glare while using the app but the pictures appearing on the feed will continue to be seen in their original colour and brightness. But the catch is that Instagram is not giving you the option to toggle the dark mode option on or off just for the mobile applications. This means, Instagram will automatically switch to the dark theme is your using dark mode on your iPhone and it will use the normal white theme if you are using the light mode in your device.
The dark theme for smartphones is getting popular day by day with both iOS and Android incorporating the dark mode. Although Google has already provided the dark theme for its Android 10 and has started rolling out for most of its applications, there are still several apps that are yet to get the dark mode. Facebook, which owns Instagram, has started testing its dark theme while the Messenger has already received the dark them. Gmail is expected to get a dark mode very soon, and so is a popular messaging app WhatsApp.
The dark theme is very subtle but it might take you a few moments to get used to the change as it dramatically transforms the feel and look of Instagram. So how do you enable Instagram’s dark theme on your iPhone? This is very easy. First of all, you have to update the Instagram app and then change your phone setting to the dark theme. Those already using the dark mode will immediately see the new theme of Instagram. To change the theme of your iPhone, tap on ‘display and brightness’ and select the ‘dark mode’.
