Samsung Launches Galaxy Book2, A 2-in-1 Powered by Snapdragon 850

Samsung is making a come-back to the personal computing market by introducing a 2-in-1 hybrid device — Samsung Galaxy Book2. This detachable tablet PC is running Windows 10 and is powered by Snapdragon 850 from Qualcomm. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 is a processor specially designed for hybrid PCs and Book2 from Samsung would be one of the first devices to have it inside. It should be noted that Qualcomm tried to step into the PC game for some time but wasn’t so successful with processors like Snapdragon 835. Now, its 850 is designed for specific purposes and comes with proper skills.

For instance, the Snapdragon 850 has been designed to handle laptops with a bigger battery. It would also be offering better power and heat management. In the long run, devices powered by this new processor variant would be better at performance and smooth rendering. Coming to the design of the Galaxy Book2, there is not much that distinguishes the Samsung tablet from Surface Pro. The core design philosophy is the same and you get necessary peripherals like the kickstand, the pen, and the detachable keyboard. At a screen size of 12 inches, the AMOLED panel offers a great visual experience for on-the-go users.

When coupled with 4GB of RAM, the Snapdragon 850 should be able to offer standard performance. When it comes to the connectivity part, a Snapdragon X20 LTE Modem offers some of the best download & upload speeds for the device. Samsung also claims that the Galaxy Book2 can easily shift between LTE and Wi-Fi, in a way helping the device to stay online, even when idle. The Korean giant has also managed to include two USB Type C ports and micro-SD cards in the device. You also get an 8MP rear camera and 5MP front camera for capturing. The Galaxy Book2 is priced at $1000.
